Welcome to the Lawrence home of the 42nd Mid-America Medieval Association Conference!

We are delighted to have received so many wonderful abstracts for the conference, and remind those still intending to submit that the deadline is July 15th.

Graduate students intending to submit their papers for the Jim Falls Paper Prize should submit their entries to Caroline Jewers, by September 1st, 2018. The prize will be announced at the closing reception on the day of the conference.

The Conference will be held at a central location TBD on the University of Kansas Lawrence campus. Please park in the Mississippi Street Garage (accessible also via Jayhawk Blvd). Hourly parking fees apply.

Downtown Lawrence offers a variety of outstanding, locally owned and operated restaurants and coffee shops. Too many to name, thus we are sure you will find a place to suit your taste. We encourage you to explore Massachusetts Street, and perhaps venture out a few blocks east to Pennsylvania Avenue

The Jim Falls Paper Prize

In 2001, the members of MAMA created the Jim Falls Paper Prize, to be awarded to the best paper delivered at the annual conference by a graduate student: the prize is a monetary award of $100.

Graduate students are encouraged to send a completed copy of their paper along with their name, university institution and graduate status and address to The deadline is September 1st, 2018.

Students who previously received the award should not submit an entry. Submission hould be the paper you intend to present at MAMA 42.
