Marina de Fazio’s primary role within the Department of French and Italian is to direct the Italian Language Program.  She is in charge of curriculum development and responsible for coordination of instruction in beginning and intermediate level courses.  She recently implemented a complete redesign of the first and second year Italian language course 
sequence.  The greatest innovations consisted in revamping the courses’ cultural component through the integration of a wealth of authentic, media-rich materials, and in fully incorporating online learning and assessment systems in both the elementary and the intermediate 
programs.  She has served as Director of the Summer Language Institute in Florence, Italy, several times, and has been serving on the MyLanguageLabs Faculty Advisory board for Pearson Higher Education since 2010, mentoring and advising potential MLL users nation-wide.  She is an active reviewer of Italian textbooks for major American publishers, and has collaborated to several Italian language textbooks projects. Her publications include articles on Dante’s Commedia and Boccaccio’s Decameron.
