Overview
Studying a language is most meaningful when you can complement it with exploring a culture as well. That might mean pursuing a degree in one of KU's foreign language departments. Or it might mean adding an international focus to your studies with a degree from one of KU's area studies centers or a foreign language minor. But there also other ways to familiarize yourself with a new culture and gain international experience:
- The Global Scholars Program, which involves a competitive application process during your third semester at KU
- The Global Awareness Program at KU which provides transcript certification of global engagement
- Attend cultural events at KU's museums, make use of the resources at KU's libraries, and attend film festivals sponsored by academic departments
- Supplement the hours that you spend in class with practice at a weekly foreign language table
- Make international friends through the Global Partners Program or one of KU's many student organizations
